Chakras and Lemon

Another day and this illness lingers. I cannot seem to sleep at night, but as soon as the sun comes out, off to dreamland I go. If this seems a little disjointed this week, you know that I am operating with cotton in the brain.

I am happy to report that #3 on my favorite five throat soothers worked brilliantly for me yesterday. My voice stayed strong, perhaps better than it does during my normal healthy times. I do suspect it is an acquired taste, though.

It has made me wonder about proper voice care during sessions in general. I find that many times, my voice will crack or grow hoarse during a session. I have added a humidifier into the mix and always keep water handy (coffee and caffeinated teas also seem to make it worse). No one has ever mentioned it as a problem, but still it has me curious. Does this happen to anyone else who has a job that involves speaking for a period of time? If so, what do you do to remedy this?

I was once told it is because one of my Chakras is blocked. How does one unblock a Chakra?

Can't help you with the chakra block, I'm afraid; I'm a little too pragmatic to buy into that concept other than as a metaphor.

I do find that talking a lot dries me out, and my solution of choice is an unobtrusively placed bottle of room-temperature water. Something I learned in editing my own recordings is that cold liquids feel good for a few minutes but tend to leave me with a slightly sticky mouth feel, which the microphone picks up as smacking sounds. Room temperature liquids don't do that, so even though a client's ears are less sensitive than the condenser mic I've embraced the same solution for both cases.

The worst I ever had it was the day I thoughtlessly scheduled two smokers back to back -- four and a half hours of nearly non-stop conversation and suggestion. I think I went through a quart and a half that afternoon!

Ah. I had not thought about room temperature. I pretty much live on ice water, so I will have to try room temperature. As always, huge thanks to your ideas. Michael, someday you really need to consider teaching hypnosis courses.

Hey, you can use hypnosis to unblock a chakra! I have a script I use for chakra balancing, it's called Rainbow Garden and is available on the internet. This will work on balancing the energy in all 7 chakras, by visualizing the colors of the rainbow, while walking thru a beautiful garden.

You can also wear, eat, and surround yourself in the color of the chakra that is deficient. That's assuming you have low energy in one of your chakras. You need to find out which chakra is low. Often, if your throat is dry or there is a comunication problem, it will be the throat chakra, #5, color sky blue. Bring more blue into your life, and meditate on it.
Carolyn Myss's book, Spritual Anatomy has a full description of the chakra energy system.

More blue, eh? Sounds easy enough. I will also check out the book (huge thanks). Is it possible that certain things or thoughts block the chakras at different times, sort of like a shut-off valve?
