A Throaty Apology

Huge apologies for not keeping this blog as active as I should have yesterday. For those who come to answer the poll questions, you will see a new poll this afternoon. I fear that I managed to attracted some not so favorable germs this past weekend (and not in some pleasant way). They have turned against me and have created a bit of a fog in my head.

So, check back this afternoon for a new poll and maybe a post with a little bit better content. Till then...

I Got Out of Bed

And so I have gotten out of bed again. The day smacks of being potentially too hurried, but maybe with a little deep breathing work, it will remain calm and casual. How does your day look?

Yesterday, my partner wanted to know what The Sunday Question was and he responded verbally. Pancakes. Pancakes help him to change things up and make life worth getting up in the morning. Now that is a nice answer. The question remains open for your response as well.

My answer? I try to avoid too much ritual in general. I try to not confine myself too much to any box, except for those that I find most pleasant. I blog in the mornings, have my coffee or tea and figure out the rest of the day at that point. That is the plus side of owning your own business. Others do not dictate your work hours. I go the office when I have clients or just need some quiet time. It is rarely ever the same.

Interesting poll results on Would You Let a Stranger that You Just Met Hypnotize You on the Street? So far the majority says "No." Perhaps I should have included a question about stage hypnosis. Ah, there I think we have a new poll. Just give me a few...

Tentative upcoming plans for the blog this week:

  1. Who the heck is Hippolyte Bernheim?
  2. Another variation of the definition of hypnosis
  3. Maybe, just maybe another of my favorite five somethings
  4. 10 Questions with Adam Eason

And of course, we must not forget Esoteric Saturday and The Sunday Question. Animal hypnosis is still high on my list, but it needs time to do it properly. In our discussion on forms of hypnosis, we are still on the divergent history of the French Schools.

Also, on The Unwinding Path, I am still on the second chapter of The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, but I did post my pre-reading-the-book-drawings over the weekend.

Polling

Here we are again. The start of another week, and yet, the same old tea. Perhaps a slice of sweet potato pie for breakfast would be a nice change.

One person answered my pole this week on intake sheets (thank you for that). Did the rest of you find it uninteresting, not clear, or could not relate to it? Hmmm. Perhaps I should keep the poll more general? Any thoughts? It really is my goal to keep this interesting for those returning. If there is something else you would like to see here, please let me know.

I do like to keep the polls going with a similar theme to things that are happening on the blog. So maybe, this new one will be about the internal mind processes.

The recent postings here have been about the analytic mind. I may have done it a great disservice by throwing in the word "creative." Though testing for the analytical mind may sound similar to Myers Briggs, it really is not. It all has to do, I believe, with how one processes information given by a particular hypnotist. And it may also have to do with time. There are times personally when I do extremely well, if not better, with analytic inductions. This is usually when I am in a group session or feel uncomfortable. However, with others, I do really well with relaxation processes and visualization.

When I get a little more time, I will post what I really think about analytic testing and such.

P.S.
I am receiving many comments that I interrupt as spam. If you have commented and had it rejected and think it should be posted, please let me know (ellie.blunt at gmail.com). Also, the one criteria I have for including comments is that it have something to do with the posting for which it is attached. Advertising does not count. If you have a subject you think would make a good new topic, please email me and I will consider it.

Good Morning!

Just thought I would write a quick good morning post as the fog clears in the mind and the caffeine takes hold. For some reason the water seems hotter than usual (same stove, same tea pot). Perhaps I stayed up too late, feeding my horror movie addiction. Funny how some movies get worse with time and others just remain awesome.

Well, I am totally babbling and you are not reading this to hear about Hellraiser. Sadly, it is what is on the brain and is currently creating a small block about what the Monday Poll will be about. Perhaps we will talk about psychology or perhaps it should be related to Halloween. Not sure just yet.

Meteors, NGH, Copper Braclets and Catching-up

Good morning. Notice no exclamation point. Too little sleep and no Earl Grey and I have an insane craving for a cup happening at this very moment.

Morning came easily, but coherency is not. Did any one else stay awake trying to watch the Perseid meteor shower? If so, what did you think? This was the first year I actively tried to watch it. What I saw was a succession of what looked like shooting stars, but usually several minutes apart. Interestingly enough, before I gave into sleep, I suppose I was in that wonderful light hypnotic state. So, when a bright meteor hit the atmosphere, it was just like the momentary jarring of sound during a hypnotic session, the type used for deepening a trance. Has anyone used visuals for this sort of thing before to help deepen the level of hypnosis?

So, here I am, with little sleep, but my ever present loyalty to this blog habit dictates that I try to write something readable.

Yes, I am still hung up on the NGH Conference, as you can tell from this weeks poll. Paul and I discussed it at the end of last week and he mentioned another conference happening in February. So, if you go to other conventions or conferences, please feel free to mention them here.

And a while back, I mentioned I was trying a copper bracelet with magnets to see if it could help lessen my head aches. I still do not know if it has helped this as I have changed allergy medication, increased meditation, and there has been a season change. However, it does seem to be helping my wrist. I still notice that when I do wear it and spend the day on the computer, my wrist feels nimble. When I do not wear it and work long hours on the computer, it starts to feel stiff and sore.

Oh, and we are in the process of scheduling a time for me to try paintball.

There, I think I have caught up a few lose ends. Hope everyone's week is starting out well.

Is it Monday Already?

How did that happen? I was just posting Sir Elton, so it seems.

Well, it is Monday and a bit hurried at that. Hopefully yours is more sane?

You have probably seen this week's poll. Still playing off the theme from this past weekend and yesterday. We sort of touched on this as a Sunday Question awhile ago with favorite inductions. This is under the realm of preferred prop, etc. to use during hypnosis (perhaps not just the induction). If you prefer multiple items or something not mentioned (or even want to go into depth more), feel free to post those under the comments on this posting.

And, if you are not a hypnotist, but a client of one and want to answer as to which you have enjoyed the most, well, that counts, too.

The Weekend Themes

Since there was little response to yesterday's question of the week (but there is still plenty of time), I am presenting the same question as our poll topic, to which I hope you will respond. It is even more anonymous than posting your words on the comment section of the blog. And yes, I am aware that it is a touchy subject or seems to be when brought up in any group situations.

But I shall leave it to you and take another sip of my ginger peach tea. Very soothing to the throat, you know. There that's better.

My partner has teased me mercilessly (well once) about my Saturday posting on paintball. He says that the fact that I know so little about it hardly gives me the right to expound so enthusiastically about a specific company. I understand this, but if you dear readers recall, I was challenged to learn more about paintball. I went to many sources (thank you wikipedia.com) and found the one mentioned to be one of the most helpful because of their online chat person, who patiently explained the pros and cons or various accessories (I compared this information to reviews I had read and most of it seemed to jive). And I did not want to go into the various types of paintball warfare out there. That would be like my partner telling me what techniques to use for my self-hypnosis section of the workshop. But I am hoping he will choose a more woodsball to speedball type of game.

The Many Uses for Hypnosis

After spending a few days in foreign places and being introduced to a variety of people, the inevitable questions about hypnosis traveled with me. I am not complaining. I am always thrilled to have an opportunity to discuss my favorite subject. That is one of the fun aspects of telling people about what I do - there seems to always be a fascination. Do brain surgeons get this or do people just smile and say "that's interesting" and go about their day? Or do they get, "How fascinating. I've always wanted an up-close-and-personal view of the raw brain. Tell me, is brain matter more grey or pink?"

After listening to these questions (about hypnosis, not brain surgery) it made me think about some of the comments you have posted, emailed me, or that I have seen on various forum discussions. There seems to be a huge variety of opinions of how hypnosis is best used. It runs a large gamut from esoteric study to healing arts, not to mention the entertainment value. And many of us indulge in all of it. The poll is located on the upper right side of the blog.

So that led me to today's poll topic of hypno uses. Please vote for your favorite options and if you put "other," please consider posting what that "other" is on this posting's comments.

Your relationship status with hypnosis

I think I like this poll concept. Hopefully you do as well?

This week, I want to know more about you, my readers and your relationship status to hypnosis. By this, I want to know are you a hypnotist (basically do you do this professionally) or are you someone who uses hypnosis? If I have clicked all the buttons correctly, you should be able to give all the answers that apply.

Also, if you answer "other," if you would, please elaborate by commenting on this post. And if any of you want to elaborate on any answer, again, please comment on this post.

I am going to keep a running tally of poll results on this posting: The Poll Results
